Homeownership Tulsa (HOT) uses their HOTline to provide assistance to consumers. They provide counseling or make referrals to one of Tulsa's two HUD-certified housing counseling agencies, the Community Action Project of Tulsa and Housing Partners of Tulsa. Those agencies will provide the appropriate counseling to callers to the hotline. Because questionable lending occurs in sectors other than housing, callers who have problems with automobile or credit debt will be referred to Credit Counseling Centers of Oklahoma.
The Tulsa campaign relies on grass roots outreach methods including billboards; brochure and flyer distribution to neighborhood stores, barber/beauty salons, restaurants, libraries; church bulletins; homeownership fairs; neighborhood and community outreach events; public bus advertising placements; and speaker's bureaus.
