Campaign Details:
Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA) is the lead agency.
Before launching their campaign this group conducted extensive research to ascertain what geographic areas the predatory lenders were targeting. They developed their outreach plan based on that research. Consumers call MEDA to receive the counseling and education they need. Financial support comes from Realtors®, lenders, and local government.
The campaign also conducts regular document review sessions. Consumers attend a workshop and bring their loan documents. After the workshop, they have a chance to meet briefly with counselors to have documents reviewed and receive individualized counseling on next steps.
