Campaign Details:
The Mississippi Don't Borrow Trouble campaign was kicked off on April 26, 2006. Housing Education and Economic Development (HEED) is the lead agency for the statewide campaign. Callers to the Hotline will be referred to trained counselors who can offer free advice for purchasing a home, refinancing, consolidating debt, taking out a home-equity loan, and mortgage foreclosure prevention, as well as be referred to appropriate legal or financial experts.

To reach the public, the campaign utilizes brochures, flyers, radio public service announcements, and online resources to educate consumers who are most vulnerable to predatory lending including the elderly, Hurricane Katrina victims or individuals affected by other similar natural disasters, minorities and low- to moderate-income individuals.
