Campaign Details:
The Allegheny County campaign launched on June 29, 2007. The Pittsburgh Community Reinvestment Group is the lead agency. Outreach includes advertising on television, the transit system, and in local community newspapers. This campaign targets zip codes where predatory lending is prevalent. Callers to the hotline receive information about credit counseling, homeownership programs, HEMAP assistance, legal services or foreclosure workout services. The hotline number also offers pre-recorded messages with key information for consumers obtaining a new mortgage, with a delinquent mortgage and those facing foreclosure. Consumers can access this service 24/7.
This campaign incorporates the "Inform Your Block" program, an innovative approach to community outreach. This community-based volunteer program provides anti-predatory lending training to community residents, who then deliver anti-predatory lending workshops in their neighborhoods
